Local Lawyer Receives Recognition
Garofalo is one of only a handful of attorneys in the area who have acquired this certification in Municipal Law. The certification requires completion of a rigorous course of study in New Jersey Local Government Law, which includes courses on: Legal Aspects of Land Use for New Jersey Attorneys; Municipal Finances – Raising and Spending Money by Municipalities; Legal Aspects of Municipal Labor Relations; Legal Aspects of Municipal Procedure; Municipal Tort Liability in New Jersey and Public Land and Buildings in New Jersey. “ I feel very honored to have received this certification,” said Garofalo, “not only does it set me apart from other attorneys in the field, but it lets the municipalities that I service really see how passionate and dedicated I am to serving their towns.” Garofalo has always been interested in politics and government law, but never wanted to be a politician. “Being an attorney for different towns allows me to help local government tackle important issues, while making a difference in the everyday lives of the community. Being named Diplomate in Municipal Law allows me the ability to really grasp the true workings of local law," added Garofalo. Garofalo is currently representing the towns of Wantage, Stillwater and Walpack and the Oxford Township Land Use Board and the Vernon Zoning Board. At Laddey, Clark & Ryan, Garofalo concentrates his practice in the areas of Municipal Law and Land Use Administration, including practice in Municipal Court, New Jersey Tax Courts and various administrative agencies. Garofalo is designated by the New Jersey Planning Officials as an instructor for the basic course in Land Use Administration that is required for all new planning and zoning board members. Garofalo graduated from Guilford College and received his M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He received his J .D. from Seton Hall University School of Law.
