Sparta, NJ --- Michael Garofalo, Esq., an attorney at Laddey, Clark & Ryan of Sparta, NJ has been retained by Fund for a Better Waterfront, Inc. to help them preserve the integrity of the waterfront on the Hudson River for the citizens of Hoboken.

Fund for a Better Waterfront, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the New Jersey shoreline along the Hudson River as public parkland. Fund for a Better Waterfront and Laddey, Clark and Ryan had previously joined forces to oppose a 3.2 million square foot development along the waterfront, which was eventually defeated by public referendum. In that battle, Laddey, Clark & Ryan Senior Partner Richard Clark fought to achieve the dramatic result.

"This group has sought the services of Laddey, Clark & Ryan for over 20 years because of our extensive statewide experience in land use law and litigation", says Garofalo. "Now I have the opportunity to go to bat again and help preserve the Hoboken waterfront."

Garofalo is no stranger to the issues plaguing the non-profit group. They are fighting the construction of a large parking garage which they argue would degrade the intergrity of the waterfront. Garofalo was retained last year to fight the construction of this garage - arguing before the Hoboken Zoning Board, the Superior Court and the Appellate Division - that the garage proposal was completely out of step with the city's development regulations.

The massive garage was never built. However, in the year since, plans have been made to build a garage half the size of the original. Fund for a Better Waterfront has asked Laddey, Clark & Ryan to oppose these new plans.

"Being an attorney in Sussex County, where land use issues play such an important part of the development and future of this county, has given me the experience and knowledge to practice land use law on a statewide scale", adds Garofalo.

Laddey, Clark & Ryan is pleased to be doing such important work across the state.
