PRESS RELEASELOCAL ATTORNEYS SPEAK AT LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES STATE CONFERENCE 11/01/09 CONTACT: Heather Donnelly Sparta, NJ --- Richard Clark, Esq. and Michael Garofalo, Esq., Partners at Laddey, Clark & Ryan of Sparta NJ, have been invited to speak at the 94th annual New Jersey League of Municipalities Conference at the Atlantic City Convention Center on November 17-20. The NJPO conference, is intended to assist local planning boards, citizens groups, corporations and professionals interested in planning with advice on municipal land use issues and laws. Clark, an NJPO Assistant Council Attorney, will be a featured panelist for a presentation entitled "New Court Rulings and Legislative Updates,” and then speak at a session entitled " Planning and Zoning Questions and Legal Opinions" the following day. “I look forward to speaking at this convention each year,” says Clark. “Legislation, as well as decisions made on the local levels, are always changing. Navigating through Land Use issues is a challenge for most people who are not engrossed in these issues.” The NJPO is a non-profit, organization comprised of members of
planning and zoning boards, elected officials and land use professionals
in the State of New Jersey. NJPO has been certified to offer mandated
training programs for new members of New Jersey Planning and Zoning
Boards. Both Clark and Garofalo teach the mandated course throughout the
State. Garofalo, who is currently the attorney for the towns of Wantage,
Stillwater and Walpack as well as the Oxford Township Land Use Board and
the Vernon Zoning Board, will be the speaker for a session entitled
"Renewable Energy and Inherently Beneficial Uses" "I have been an instructor for NJPO for at least 6 years, adds
Garofalo. " This is my 5th year speaking in Atlantic City. It is a
privilege to share the experiences of working in Sussex County to others
around the state.” Clark represents land use and estate and trusts clients. Garofalo's practice focuses on municipal law, zoning and planning, tax appeals and municipal litigation. Laddey, Clark and Ryan, LLP represents municipalities and boards and serves as special litigation counsel to municipalities throughout the State.
