Sparta Woman Settles With State Of New Jersey For Injuries In Fatal Car Crash

A passenger in a multi-car fatal crash on I-287, involving a New Jersey Department of Health and Human Services vehicle, settled her personal injury lawsuit for over $1.1 million, including $800,000 from the State of New Jersey.

Nicole Sarrecchia of Sparta was front seat passenger, when her husband, Salvatore, collided with a previously crashed vehicle left disabled in the roadway on I-287 in Bedminster. After Sarrecchia’s husband exited their vehicle, a marked SUV driven by Department of Health and Human Services officer, Sgt. Lawrence Lynn, struck both Salvatore Sarrecchia and Sarrecchia’s vehicle, killing Salvatore Sarrecchia and severely injuring Nicole.

Sarrecchia, represented by Andrew Fraser, Esq. and Tiffany Heineman, Esq. of Laddey, Clark & Ryan, LLP in Sparta, reached settlement with the State during a pretrial conference before Superior Court Judge David Ironson. The State’s contribution of $800,000 constituted the bulk of the total $1.1 million settlement, which also included previous settlements with the insurers for the other drivers.
