Laddey, Clark & Ryan Hosts Discrimination and Harassment Seminar for New Jersey Employers

The third installment in Laddey, Clark & Ryan’s Employment Law Seminar Series for Human Resource Professionals took place on June 20, 2017 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rockaway, New Jersey.  Business owners and human resource professionals throughout Morris and Sussex Counties were in attendance at this event.

Michael R. Darbee, Esq., a member of the firm’s Employment and Labor Law Group presented the two and a half hour program.  The focus of the spring seminar was discrimination and harassment in the workplace.  Every year, U.S. employers pay out approximately $770 million to settle claims of discrimination and harassment. Employees file approximately 1,486 wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment claims every day. The average length of an employment lawsuit is 2 1/2 years from complaint to settlement.

“The seminar taught human resource professionals how to identify, prevent, and correct discrimination and harassment in the workplace,” says Darbee.  “It is my hope that they learned how to protect their businesses from the potentially disastrous human and financial consequences that result from such claims.”

The next Employment Law Seminar Series for Human Resource Professionals will focus on Wage and Hour Laws and is scheduled for October 28, 2017 at Perona Farms in Andover, New Jersey.
