Laddey, Clark & Ryan Recognized by the EPA for its Leadership in Sustainability

Laddey, Clark & Ryan, LLP has been named one of only four organizations in New Jersey to be recognized as a 2019 WasteWise Regional Award Winner by the United States Environmental Protection Agency in the Northeast Region (Region 2).

EPA’s WasteWise encourages organizations and businesses to achieve sustainability in their practices, and reduce waste. WasteWise is part of EPA’s sustainable materials management efforts, which promote the use and reuse of materials more productively over their entire lifecycles. All U.S. businesses, as well as governments and nonprofit organizations, can join WasteWise as a partner. Partners demonstrate how they reduce waste, practice environmental stewardship and incorporate sustainable materials management into their waste-handling processes.

In 2018, Laddey Clark & Ryan diverted over 11 tons of waste from the landfill. The firm recycles paper and paper products, electronic equipment, ink cartridges, and bottles, and utilizes energy-efficient lightbulbs. In recent years, Laddey Clark & Ryan began purchasing filtered water for its office to avoid use of single-use plastic bottles and stopped using disposable cups. The law firm is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to purchase more recycled products.

Thomas N. Ryan, the firm’s managing partner, attributes its growth, success and staying power, in part, to its single-minded focus to be an active member of, and to serve the community in which its attorneys and staff live and work. Says Ryan, “A key aspect of our community involvement has been the firm’s long-time commitment to shrink its environmental footprint. Well into its second decade with this focus, Laddey Clark & Ryan is constantly looking for additional ways to ‘Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.’”
