In this field, I believe in treating every client like he or she is a family member. My clients are usually dealing with a terrible situation, or need to discuss very sensitive or dire issues. My golden rule is to be kind always – you truly never know what someone is going through.

Renata Mizak is Practice Leader of the Wills, Trusts and Estates practice group, and heads the Elder Law practice.

Renata has spent nearly her entire legal career exclusively practicing in the areas of Estate & Tax Planning, Estate Administration, Estate and Trust Litigation, Elder Law & Care Planning, Medicaid, Guardianships, Special Needs and Disability Law. She assists individuals in creating customized estate plans – consisting of wills, trusts, powers of attorney and healthcare directives – while minimizing estate taxation. She also represents:

  • Executors and administrators in administering estates for deceased individuals
  • Trustees in administering trusts for grantors and beneficiaries
  • Fiduciaries under a Power of Attorney, Healthcare Directive, Guardianship or Conservatorship, in understanding and carrying out their legal and fiduciary obligations
  • Beneficiaries of estates and trusts, in understanding their rights and interests; and Individuals who were wronged and require representation as litigants.   For elderly clients, Renata assists in establishing long-term care plans with asset preservation, and helps clients navigate through the Medicaid application process.   She also assists individuals who are incapacitated or developmentally disabled, as well as individuals who seek to be appointed as Guardians for such individuals.

Renata’s commitment to this field is underscored by her pursuit of an LL.M. in Estate Planning & Elder Law from West New England School of Law. Renata is a resident of Sussex County, where she is frequently found speaking at local seminars to share her knowledge and information with the community, especially in a field where everything is always changing. Renata’s articles can be found in the NJ Herald and on the Laddey, Clark & Ryan website.
