The New Jersey’s wage transparency law will take effect on June 1, 2025. Under the new law, employers must:

1) disclose the wage or salary, general description of benefits, and other compensation programs for each new job or transfer opportunity postings; and

2) make reasonable efforts to announce, post, or otherwise inform all current employees about promotional opportunities in their departments before making promotion decisions.

This new law has broad coverage, applying to both private and public employers, government entities, non-profits, as well as job placement, referral, and employment agencies.

To prepare, employers should:

  • Determine and document the hourly and salary ranges for each position.
  • Train HR, recruiting, and hiring staff on this new law, including its posting and disclosure requirements.
  • Review all external and internal job postings and advertisements carefully to confirm the requisite compensation information is included.
