LADDEY, CLARK & RYAN’S SUMMER INTERN PROGRAM

Laddey, Clark & Ryan, LLP (LCR) hires talented individuals to provide opportunities to develop, challenge and broaden their skills while bringing innovative solutions to our clients. LCR was recently recognized as Sussex County’s Workplace of the Year and was named “Best Places to Work” by NJBIZ, New Jersey’s leading business journal.

LCR is committed to the professional development and advancement of our Summer Intern. Our Summer Intern program offers an undergraduate college student the opportunity to participate in a paid internship during the Summer break, in a law-related environment. If accepted, the Intern will be exposed to the field of law, with assignments, training, and mentoring.

INTERNSHIP DETAILS

The Summer Intern Program is a paid, in-person program, starting in May 2025 and ending in August 2025, for an Undergraduate College Student who is interested in law.

Summer Interns are expected to make a full-time commitment and work 35 hours per week.

This is an introductory program. Please note that, for Law Students, LCR offers a Summer Associate Program. Summer Interns are invited to apply for the Summer Associate Program once they have completed at least 1 year of law school.

WORK ASSIGNMENTS AND FEEDBACK

A Summer Intern receives a variety of assignments, both administrative and legal.

For administrative assignments, the Summer Intern will report directly to our Controller and/or Executive Director. Such assignments may include, but are not limited to:

  • Converting Medical Records and other legal documents;
  • Organizing Files in our off-site Storage Facility;
  • Assisting with Client Database and Contacts; and
  • Assisting with the “Estates Project” addressing old Estate Planning documents.

For legal assignments, the Summer Intern will report to the attorneys that manage the Summer Internship Program, as named in the letterhead above. In addition, the Summer Intern will support and work with attorneys, paralegals, staff, and the Summer Associate. When appropriate, the Summer Intern will be invited to attend trials, hearings, depositions, arbitrations, mediations, client conferences, closings, and other client-related activities. Legal work product from each assignment is evaluated by one of the supervising attorneys in the Committee, who will monitor the overall progress of the Summer Intern. The assigning attorney on the project provides verbal feedback to the Summer Intern after completion of the project. We also encourage our Summer Intern to proactively seek feedback from the attorneys.

SOCIAL EVENTS

Meeting and getting to know our attorneys is one of the most important components of the summer experience. Our attorneys are the foundation of the firm. A variety of social events are planned to facilitate attorney interaction on an informal basis – events such as Attorney Lunches, community service activities, LCR and Sussex County Bar Association networking events, and LCR’s summer outing on Lake Hopatcong. These events provide excellent opportunities to meet more of our lawyers and for us to get to know our Summer Intern.
